Ethyl methyl ketone or Methyl ethyl ketone, also known as MEK for short, is a liquid organic compound with the systematic name butanone. It has an acetone-like odor and is used as a solvent in industry. Copper, zinc and bronze catalysts are used in the production of 2-butanol by oxidation. It is flammable.
