Acetone, propanone or dimethyl ketone is an organic chemical compound with the formula (CH₃)₂CO. It is a sharp, flammable, non-toxic colorless liquid. It is widely used as a solvent. The closed formula is shown as C₃H₆O. It is miscible in all proportions with water, ethanol and diethyl ether.
